Kopp Family May Update

Thanks so much for following along with us as we by God’s grace seek to plant for the gospel!

Finishing off at Oak Ridge Baptist Church

Sunday night, May 13th, our family wrapped up eight years serving on the pastoral team at Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Our lives have been so shaped and molded by the relationships and ministry we’ve had there that the adjustment to the new stage of ministry and life has been an odd mix of sadness, excitement, fears and confidence. For our last Sunday, one desire that we had as a finish to our time with Oak Ridge was to enjoy a full day worshipping God and enjoying the relationships He has raised up over the years, and we are so thankful that we enjoyed just that! Our pastor gave Beth and I freedom to lead our favorite songs in both services, lead our choir in a favorite piece, and I was able to preach my last sermon to our teens. What a joy it was to cap off our years of ministry by singing our hearts out to Jesus! The humbling thought that God brought to my mind through the whole weekend was that in all our weaknesses, failures, misses, and sufferings He was working His plan at Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Amazingly, through it all, we are more satisfied and sanctified for His work in and through us.

Sharing the mission

So far, we have presented our family’s part in the Gospel Grace Church plant at our sending church as well as two churches in the Greenville, SC--Grace Baptist Fellowship and Calvary Baptist Church. God gave us a great weekend with Pastor Stacey and Vicki Peek and the people at Grace. They are a church plant near downtown Greenville, and it was exciting to watch the life and vibrance that is seen in a church plant. We found ourselves antsy and excited to be in a similar situation very soon. I also enjoyed seeing my brother active in ministry leading us in worship and jumping into relationships. Pastor Stacey and Vicki are disciplers, and it showed in the conversations we had with many after the service. Our time at Calvary Baptist Church was also sweet. I grew up at Calvary, and for the last 8 years have been working for my youth pastor, so the people and ministry at Calvary have shaped my life and ministry. As I preached and presented our ministry, I was catching faces of people that God had used in my life over the years. It was a moving reminder of God’s grace to me. I am the beneficiary of many people’s patience and kindness. We enjoyed the time talking ministry and gospel work with the Pastors and their wives over a meal after the service. God is doing great things at all the churches we have served with so far! We’ve seen the gospel producing life and relationships in exciting ways!

Our kind Father knows our needs

God is taking care of our family’s needs in this whole journey! We have had several individuals partner with us financially (both as micro and macro supporters,) and our home church has also committed to monthly support. We are also anticipating our start into full time deputation this weekend as we travel to Nashville, TN. God has given us a full schedule this summer to present our ministry. We’ll be in Nashville twice, back to Greenville, South Carolina, down to Georgia, over to North Carolina twice, visiting the Tri-cities area here in Tennessee, up to Indianapolis and Central and Northern Wisconsin, and back before we finish at our home church on August 12th for a send off service.

Please be in prayer for us as we travel that we might share with joy the great mission God has called us to! We are burdened to humbly communicate the work that God has gripped us with so heavily.
