Next Church Planting Team

Stepping out in faith to follow God's will.

In 2014 God began to stir the hearts of the Brooks, Fleshman, and Inafuku families. God’s work in Gospel Grace Church is evident. Something special is underway. We began to pray about the possibility of joining Plant4theGospel in a church planting effort to reach the greater Salt Lake Valley. The glory of Jesus Christ, the compelling need for gospel-preaching churches in the west, and the enormous opportunity in the SLC caused us to begin talking and praying very specifically about planting a church together. Each of our families comes from gospel-rich communities. We’re in places where churches sit on almost every corner, but not in Salt Lake. “The Valley is dying for lack of the Word” is a frequently spoken description of SLC. As we continually hear this we are compelled by the Spirit to make this move.

In the fall of 2016 we announced to our respective church families our plans to move west and have now begun to prepare for ministry in SLC, raise financial support, and build relationships with those who desire to join the team. Our plan is to be in the Valley by the summer of 2017 and to establish a church-planting hub, a church that reproduces other gospel-preaching churches in early 2018.

Danny & Kristen Brooks

Danny and Kristen have served the Lord together at Heritage Bible Church for nearly 25 years. Danny began as youth pastor in 1992 and then in 1998 became the lead preaching pastor. Ministering the Word of God, both publically and privately, is his greatest joy. He believes Jesus Christ changes everything in our lives when we truly see Him as He is. Kristen is a committed wife and mom. The home is not only a place where she perfects her culinary skills, but makes a hospitable welcome for everyone who enters. In addition to the priority of caring for the family, she serves the church in a variety of ways from teaching ladies’ classes to serving in children’s ministry. The Brooks have four children Luke (21), Kate (18), Hailey (16), and Seth (16). Their personal interests range from soccer and art to music and friends. Family life is complicated at the moment, but a rich blessing from the Lord.

Following God’s leading to Salt Lake City has been a joyful, faith-building family process. As they have prayed over the possibility of ministry in Salt Lake, the Brooks have seen God confirm the call through the Scriptures, grow a deep church planting conviction within their hearts, and shape the plans through the counsel of other saints. They are persuaded the time is right and the opportunity is vast.

A meaningful verse of promise for us . . .
I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation, but as it is written, “Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.” (Romans 15:20-21)

Kevin & Misty Inafuku

Kevin Inafuku graduated from Bob Jones University in 2000 with a degree in Church Music and has spent the last 14 years at Harvest Baptist Church as the Minister of Music on the island of Guam. Following his graduation, he wrestled with whether God would call him back to Hawaii where he was born and raised, but God directed his steps to travel with the Steve Pettit Evangelistic Team. Traveling from 2000-2003, Kevin was able to direct the team’s music and run the children’s meetings each night. God, through His sovereignty, allowed Kevin to meet Pastor Marty Herron, the pastor of Harvest Baptist Church. Kevin was able to visit Guam and was convinced God was leading him there for that time. The islands have always been a part of his heart, and Harvest Ministries resonated with his passion to know God and to help others know Him. After seven years of service leading the worship ministry at Harvest, Kevin married Misty Herron, daughter of Pastor and Mrs. Herron.

Together, Kevin and Misty have had a huge desire to serve God in the islands and to help the people of Guam develop a heart for God through Bible study, discipleship and worship. Their four children were all born on Guam and enjoy laughing, making new friends and spending time at the beach. Over the last few years, God has been working in Kevin and Misty’s hearts to pursue church planting in Hawaii. Through prayers and many conversations God has moved in their hearts to start pursuing this burden through the church planting ministry of Plant4theGospel in SLC. They will be heading to SLC for the next several years as God provides for them and paves the way to head to Hawaii. They are excited to partner with Plant4theGospel alongside of Danny Brooks & family in a church planting effort in Riverton, UT.

A verse that I try to make define my life...
Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness! Psalm 115:1
